Shingle Roofing Company - Palm Beach County

Shingle Roof Installation

It is a common misconception that shingle roofs cannot perform well in South Florida. Shingle roof failures in Florida are primarily due to poor workmanship or improper ventilation. Improper installations exist in a high percentage of roofs across the Country, but those other climates are more forgiving than our own.

The most important factors affecting the lifespan are ventilation and proper installation, in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications. A properly installed shingle roof will deliver many years of trouble-free service, even in the hot, stormy areas of Palm Beach, Broward and Dade Counties, Florida.

Shingle Roof Ventilation

Adequate ventilation is an important aspect of the shingle roof system, especially in South Florida. Proper venting of a dwelling’s attic space improves dissipation of heat from the attic and prevents excessive heat build up on the underside of the shingles.

The cooler the shingle roof, the longer it last. For houses with air conditioning ducts in the attic, venting increases the performance of the system by keeping the duct work cooler, thereby saving electricity.

We provide an outstanding variety of high quality shingle roofing products. We are also fully certified by the roofing product manufacturers for south Florida hurricane specifications, including Certainteed, Owens Corning, and GAF.

Proper installation is of primary importance in assuring decades of trouble-free service and beauty. During installation, we stress attention to detail, and produce the highest quality of workmanship, assuring that storms and hurricanes will not create leaks, mold, or rotting issues in the future.

Tile Roofing Company - Palm Beach County

Tile Roof Installation

Roofing tiles are a very durable product manufactured out of materials such as concrete and clay. They are extremely resilient, and can often outlast the residential houses and buildings on which they are installed.

Tile roofing also endures years of heat from direct sunlight and high air temperatures without diminishment in structural integrity. This is in contrast to asphalt shingle roofing, whose lifespan is based almost entirely on the effects of heat and sunlight in hotter climates.

Tile Roof Insulating Properties
Concrete and clay tiles acts as a thermal barrier keeping your home cooler in the summer, which is why it is often chosen by residential homeowners in South Florida.

The insulating properties of these tile roofs have noticeable impacts such as lower electric bills, especially on residential homes that are not protected from the sun by heavy tree cover. Blocking out heat from direct sunlight also keeps attic crawlspace cooler and protects the materials used in home and roofing construction, such as plywood sheeting and insulation, from deterioration due to high temperatures.

Providing a better thermal barrier to the underlying roof structure also reduces the expansion and contraction of joints and adhesives and decreases its detrimental effects.
Tile Roof Hurricane & Fire Resistance
Tile roofing is often chosen by South Florida residential home owners due to its ability to withstand high winds from tropical storms and hurricanes. Due to the risks, it is very important that they are properly installed in accordance with both Florida building code and also the tile manufacturer’s specifications.

Tile roofs have a Class A fire rating, which is the highest rating for protection. This can be beneficial for homes in hot, dry climates because of their susceptibility to fire from external sources such as brush fires.

Tile Roof Cleaning & Maintenance
Many roof tiles are sealed at the manufacturing plant which makes the surface less porous, so they require less maintenance, though the sealing process usually helps for only for a few years.

When cleaning, it is recommended to use a licensed and insured tile roofing contractor; otherwise, any accident (most likely falling off of a roof) makes a homeowner directly responsible for the worker’s injury. Problems with roofing damage and leaks are also common after a thorough cleaning, even among seasoned professionals.

It is recommended to inspect a tile roof every 2 years for loose or broken tiles. Just a few loose tiles during hurricane force wind can compromise the reliability of the roofing system.

We recommend Boral roofing tiles, a very high-quality tile roofing product, suitable for use in Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach County. They also pass two important criteria:

  1. We have used their products in the past.
  2. We will use them in the future.

Today’s tile roof products from Boral and there corresponding installation techniques surpass the most stringent hurricane codes ever devised.

Metal Roofing Company - Palm Beach County

Metal Roof Installation

We are a Florida state certified commercial metal roofing contractor for Palm Beach County.

So, no matter the size, scale, or shape of your metal roofing project, we utilize the finest materials and installation techniques.

With over 20 different options for you to choose from, you are sure to find a color to compliment your structures appearance.

Metal Roofing can be a very cost effective solution, as it will last a lifetime when properly installed. It can also increase the value of your home or building.

The benefits of a higher lifespan and desirable appearance have increased its popularity, and as metal roofing continues to grow more selection in metal roofing products have become available for residential projects.

Metal Roofs are both durable and strong, providing reliable shelter during hurricane season here in Florida.

Metal Roofing Systems also lead in fire protection for homes and buildings; they provide superior performance and minimal maintenance with an expected lifespan of 40 years.
Metal Roof Corrosion
Though wind is the top priority when choosing a metal roof system, the other concern is corrosion.

Salt water spray will corrode a steel metal panel in a very short time, and manufacturers do not warranty their product against rust or corrosion.

It’s necessary for a home owner or property manager to understand the various provisions within their warranty.

The warranty from the manufacturer is completely separate from that of the installation contractor.

Keep in mind that a manufacturer can reject a warranty claim if the roofing contractor that did the installation did not fully comply with the manufacturer’s specifications.

Non-coastal cities such as Wellington and the western areas of Palm Beach County do not have the same salt water issues as Boca Raton Pompano Beach and Delray Beach, thereby giving the customer more options when choosing a metal roofing panel.

Metal Roof Wind & Hurricane Resistance

Metal roof systems can be considered the best overall choice for performance and durability.

When choosing a metal roof, one area of concern is that level of competency required by the roofing contractor to properly install a system of this complexity.

Homes that lie north of Jupiter Tequesta and Palm Beach Florida are sometimes considered outside of the hurricane zone. Statistics show that there is no clear ‘line in the sand’, but levels of probability as to a hurricane strike.

Roofs within Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce, along with Vero Beach can also suffer the effects of intense storms and hurricanes, though statistically not as often.

Metal roofing systems can withstand winds exceeding 140 mph, but only when installed properly, in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

We will take the time to clearly identify your exact roofing needs and recommend a proper metal roof solution that will protect your home from high winds and provide you with a great looking and cost effective roof for many years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

These are the most common residential roofing questions we get asked. Hopefully they will answer your questions too. If not please contact us.
  • How Much Does An Average Residential Roof Cost?

There is no straight answer to this question. It depends on the type of roof (shingle, tile/metal/flat). Metal roofs are the most expensive, but you get the bang for your buck- they last up to 50 years, and are the most hurricane resistant.

Tile roofs are the next most expensive, and fare greater with foam adhesive than nailed-on or screwed-on tile. Followed by shingle & flat roofs which are the least expensive.

  • Do You Offer Financing For Roofing Jobs?

Yes, we are Ygreen, PACE certified. Visit their website to determine if you are eligible for financing, or give us a call for help.

  • What Type Of Warranty Do You Offer On A New Roof?

Any good reputable roofer will give a 5-10 year workmanship guarantee on new roofs, and up to 20 years manufacturer’s warrantee. Repairs are complicated to warrantee, it’s like trying to put a guarantee on a used tire, you just can’t. Usually repairs are good for up to 1 year. You’ll know if the repair was done correctly after the first heavy downpour that comes. If the repaired area doesn’t leak, it likely will not again.

  • What Should I Know Before Picking A Roof Material?

Probably the most important thing to know is that the underlayment is the most important part of a roof. Tile/Shingle/Metal will only be as good as the underlayment underneath. Make sure your roofer is using a great underlayment, and ask for optional upgrades.

  • What Should I Know Before Picking A Roof Color?

This all comes down to personal style/color preference, and the color of your house. You want something that will flow nicely and tie into the house. Something that compliments it. If you still aren’t sure, you can always ask your roofing contractor which color they recommend and will look best on your house.

  • What Happens If It Rains While You Are Working On My Roof?

Roofers need to be good weather forecasters. We are always checking the weather, watching the skies, and taking into account the possibility of a freak weather breakout. We have protocols. A good roofer won’t schedule a tear-off unless we know there will be clear skies for that day. Once the roof is torn off and the underlayment is down, it is water tight and good to go to wait for the tile/shingle/metal load.

  • Will I Be Able To Stay At My Home While A New Roof Is Being Installed?

    Absolutely… But don’t expect quietness!
